What is XLayer?
X Layer is a ZK-powered layer 2 network built on the Polygon CDK, connecting the OKX and Ethereum communities to create a global on-chain ecosystem. It is designed to enable the seamless movement of value between OKX and the X Layer, utilizing OKB as its native token.
In terms of its role in the restaking ecosystem, X Layer facilitates the integration of decentralized applications (DApps) that can leverage the underlying security and scalability of both the Ethereum network and OKX's infrastructure. By enabling EVM compatibility, it allows developers to easily deploy ZK-powered DApps, enhancing their functionality while maintaining low transaction costs—approximately 1% of Ethereum's gas fees.
As a restaking Active Validated Service (AVS), X Layer acts as a trusted intermediary that helps in optimizing the use of staked assets. By utilizing zkRollups, it enhances transaction throughput and scalability while ensuring data availability and finality. The integration of a Decentralized Data Availability Committee (DAC) ensures that the data necessary for transactions remains accessible and reliable, further supporting the overall integrity of the restaking ecosystem.
The infrastructure improvements planned for 2024, including the transition to mainnet and the implementation of zkBridge, zkOracle, and zkDEX, are intended to strengthen its role in the ecosystem by providing advanced features that facilitate both transaction efficiency and user engagement within the restaking framework. This positions X Layer as a pivotal player in enabling more efficient staking and validator participation, ultimately enhancing the user experience and adoption of DeFi applications.
