What is the Swell Network?

Swell is a non-custodial staking protocol focused on providing a premium liquid staking and restaking experience. Its primary aim is to simplify access to decentralized finance (DeFi) while securing the future of Ethereum and enhancing restaking services. Users can stake or restake their ETH to earn rewards from both the blockchain and restaked Active Validated Services (AVS), all while receiving a yield-bearing liquid token, either a liquid staking token (LST) or a liquid restaking token (LRT). These tokens enable users to maintain liquidity and participate in the broader DeFi ecosystem, where they can earn additional yield.
One of Swell's key products is rswETH, an ERC-20 Liquid Restaking Token. This token provides liquidity for users looking to restake their ETH into protocols like EigenLayer without having their assets locked up. rswETH acts as a repricing token that represents a user's yield-bearing ETH being utilized by validators to attest transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. The mechanism for restaking involves directing a validator's withdrawal credentials to an Eigenlayer Eigenpod address, facilitating the seamless integration of staking rewards and DeFi participation.
In the context of the restaking ecosystem, Swell is essential as it offers a way for users to effectively manage their staked assets while maximizing their earning potential. As an AVS, Swell supports restaking by allowing users to earn additional rewards without sacrificing liquidity, thus enhancing the overall attractiveness of the Ethereum staking landscape.
