What is the OPStack?
The OP Stack is a shared, open-source development stack that powers Optimism and enables the creation of new L2 blockchains within the Superchain ecosystem. As part of the Optimism Collective, the OP Stack simplifies the process of launching L2 rollups, focusing on standardization to avoid siloed development. Its current version, Optimism Bedrock, is designed for production-quality Optimistic Rollup blockchains.
The OP Stack provides modular software components that define layers of the Optimism ecosystem, from infrastructure to governance. As part of its functionality, the stack emphasizes security through shared standards, particularly for rollup interoperability within the Superchain. Additionally, the OP Stack supports restaking AVS functionalities, leveraging Ethereum's security for high performance and scale.
