Drosera

What is Drosera?

Drosera functions as an Active Validated Service (AVS) specifically designed to enhance security within the Web3 ecosystem through a decentralized incident response protocol. By utilizing hidden security intents, Drosera provides protocols with the ability to mitigate and respond to exploits effectively, significantly reducing the risk of capital loss due to vulnerabilities.
The core features of Drosera include:
  • Emergency Traps: Protocols can create "Traps," which are smart contracts that define emergency conditions for potential exploits. Importantly, these Traps are not deployed on-chain, maintaining the confidentiality of the protocol's security measures while enabling proactive monitoring.
  • Decentralized Monitoring: Drosera Operators continuously evaluate the conditions set by the Traps for each new block. This dynamic monitoring allows for immediate detection of threats, ensuring that emergency conditions are identified swiftly and accurately.
  • Automated Response Execution: Upon reaching consensus among operators that an emergency condition is met, the Drosera system automatically triggers the protocol's pre-defined on-chain emergency response. This rapid reaction can contain potential exploits before they escalate, protecting users' funds and the protocol's integrity.
By employing these mechanisms, Drosera aims to prevent exploits like those seen in the Nomad and Euler incidents, where significant funds were siphoned due to vulnerabilities. By providing a robust, trustless incident response framework, Drosera not only enhances the security posture of individual protocols but also contributes to overall confidence in the decentralized finance ecosystem. Through restaking and AVS models, Drosera’s innovative approach serves to protect capital and foster a more secure environment for Web3 applications.
