ℹ Introduction To NEAR Testnets

The NEAR Testnet is a public blockchain environment used for testing nearcore upgrades and decentralized applications before they are deployed to mainnet. It replicates mainnet behavior closely, making it ideal for testing everything from account creation and token transfers to smart contract functionality and developer tooling.

All nearcore changes are first released to testnet as candidates before moving to mainnet. Testnet has its own independent state and transaction history, and is maintained by a set of validators who produce blocks and process transactions.

Use testnet to:

  • Deploy and test dApps and smart contracts
  • Interact with the NEAR protocol without financial risk
  • Experiment with the full NEAR developer stack
