ℹ Overview of the Scroll Network

Scroll is a Layer 2 (L2) scaling solution for Ethereum that leverages zero-knowledge rollups (zk-rollups) to enhance transaction throughput while maintaining low costs and high security. By bundling multiple transactions into a single rollup block and verifying it on the Ethereum mainnet using zero-knowledge proofs, Scroll significantly increases transaction capacity and reduces blockchain congestion .
Designed for full compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Scroll allows developers to deploy existing smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) without extensive modifications. This compatibility ensures that tools and codebases from Ethereum can be utilized seamlessly on Scroll, facilitating a smoother developer experience .
Scroll’s architecture focuses on providing a robust environment for scalable and efficient blockchain applications. By processing transactions off-chain and submitting concise proofs to the Ethereum mainnet, it achieves rapid processing and finalization of transactions at a fraction of the cost of traditional Ethereum transactions .
The network is open-source and community-driven, reflecting a commitment to transparency and collaboration. Scroll’s mainnet is live, and it also offers a testnet environment on Ethereum’s Sepolia network, enabling developers to test and evaluate changes before deploying to the mainnet .
